How the goal planner works

First it grows today's goal amount by inflation: future cost = goal × (1 + inflation)n. Then it finds the monthly SIP that grows to that cost at your return. The lump sum shown is the single amount that would grow to the same cost if invested today.

Both the inflation and the return are assumptions, and real values change every year. The result does not include fund charges or tax.

Common questions

Why does the goal cost more in the future?

Prices rise over time, so a goal that costs a certain amount today costs more by the time you reach it. The calculator applies your inflation assumption to show the future cost.

What is the monthly SIP shown?

It is the fixed monthly amount that would grow to the future cost at the return you enter, with each instalment invested at the start of the month.

Can I rely on this to plan my finances?

Use it to understand the size of the effort, not as a promise. Real returns and inflation vary, so revisit the numbers regularly and keep a safety margin.
