Privacy notice
This notice explains how Aavrio handles personal data. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it.
Data fiduciary: Aavrio, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect today
You can read Aavrio without an account. When you do:
- Visit counts without cookies. We count page views without cookies or anything stored on your device, so we know which pages are read.
- Product analytics, only if you allow it. If you choose “Allow” in the privacy banner, we keep a random ID in your browser so we can tell when the same browser comes back. If you choose “No thanks” or ignore the banner, any ID lives only in memory and is gone when you close the page.
- Your choices. We store your privacy choice and your light or dark theme setting in your browser.
Analytics events record things like the page path, the type of device, your browser’s name and version (so we can leave out automated visits), the website you came from, how far you read an article, which glossary terms you open, which startup profiles you open or share, how many results a search returned and the website a link took you to. They never include your name, email, phone number, search terms or anything you type. We ask our analytics provider not to store IP addresses.
What we will collect when accounts launch
If you create an account, we will collect your email address or phone number, a display name, and what you do on Aavrio, such as saved articles and topics you follow. We will not ask for your date of birth, PAN or address. Accounts are for people aged 18 and over.
Why we use it
- To run the site and keep it secure.
- To understand which pages help people, so we can improve them (only with your consent).
- To run your account, once accounts exist.
We do not sell personal data and we do not show ads.
Where it is stored and who processes it
We use trusted service providers to host the site, store data and understand how it is used. They process data only on our behalf and only for these purposes. Some of this processing may happen outside India, as Indian law permits.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is deleted after 12 months. Account data is kept while your account is open and deleted after you close it, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent at any time, and nominate someone to act for you. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: choose “Privacy choices” at the bottom of any page.
To use these rights or make a complaint, contact our grievance officer through the grievance page. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
When this notice changes in a way that affects your choices, we will ask for your consent again.
